koh Chang Island
-
Located 270km souteast of Bangkok in the Gulf of Thailand, koh Chang is about a three hour drive from the new suvarnabhumi airport and very close to the regional airport of Trat. Koh Chang is close to the Cambodian border and is part of a range of 52 islands that are off the coast of Trat, like a string of sparkling jewels. The island is 30km long and 14km wide, but most of the resorts are along the west side of the island.
From Trat you have a fifteen minute drive to the ferry terminal, where you will embark on a twenty minute crossing to the island.
-
Koh Chang has 2 seasons. The rainy season here lasts from May until October, the dry season from November until April. ( the cold time between November and February and the hot time from March until May). Most visitors are on the island between December and March; this is also the best time for a stay, since the temperatures rarely exceed over 30' Celsius.
In November and December it can become occasionally quite cool because of the wind in the evening and at night.
